Shake Up Your Wake Up 23-29th JanuaryThis week (23-29th January) is the week to have a decent breakfast, along with all the other weeks of the year. Farmhouse Breakfast Week is an annual campaign run by HGCA which aims to raise awareness of the benefits of eating a healthy breakfast. To do this they’ve kindly offered tips, facts and breakfast ideas on their website. So we thought we would pass them on, with some extra’s of course.

Top tips for a healthy breakfast:

  • Eat your breakfast off a plate or bowl, not someone’s head (it might be a tattoo).
  • Having a piece of fruit starts you on your way to 5-a-day.
  • Breakfast is the first meal of the day, eaten within two hours of waking and providing calories in the range of 20-35% of daily energy needs.
  • If you have any meat for breakfast, make sure you are fully awake. You don’t want to eat it raw, or worse, eat the dog, in a sleepy stupor.

To honour this healthy breakfast week, we will keep our special breakfast week header (above) for the duration of the week and at some point this week we will be submitting our ideas for their breakfast gizmo competition. Expect some really innovative (stupid) ideas for new breakfast gizmos.
