Can you learn to love marmite?

February 17, 2011

According to Heston Blumenthal, you can “train your palate”. This means if there is a food you don’t like, even hate, you can learn to like it, or at least tolerate it. To do this you have to eat a little bit each day until you are no longer disgusted by it’s mere existence.

This is an interesting concept, and one which I’m going to try with Marmite. To me, Marmite is horrible. It looks like a cross between tar and baby excrement and tastes even worse. So it’s clearly a good food for me to test this theory with.

Despite not eating any Marmite today, the process has already begun, the first step being this post. They always say the first step is opening up, and now I have opened about Marmite I can start to progress towards looking at it.

Today’s consumption:

8:20- Golden nuggets (including one abnormal one, pictured below)
13:20- Ginsters Cornish Pasty, banana, apple, rocky bar
