Pancake Pie

March 8, 2011

More pancakes are eaten today than on any other, according to a make-believe study based entirely on common sense. However, by some great coincidence, it’s also British Pie Week (it seems to be a new ‘something’ week every week, maybe there is a chicken nugget week at some point this year?).

So, what does this mean for the diet of the nation? It means that people will be eating loads of pies and loads of pancakes. I would like to combine the two somehow; maybe a pie with a pancake lid or maybe I will flip my pie before I next eat one. It seems one of my ideas has already been taken with a pancake pie.

Although it looks more like a pancake lasagne, this is a Pancake Pie- Photo by Rool Paap

And eaten so far today (pancakes/pancake pie to come):

8:20– Frosties
12:30– Bacon sandwich
12:50- Banana

18:20- Cosmos again! This always results in a long list… 2 mint imperials, polos, ginger chilli beef, dragonfly crispy beef, lemon chicken, prawn cracker, seaweed, chicken dahl, chicken curry, rice, beef in blackpepper sauce, tom yum chicken, Chinese pork, Malaysian beef curry, fudge, marshmallows, rice krispie cake, profiteroles, chocolate fountain.

We’re loving pie week in our house. We decided to go a little off-piste and make something a little different. I popped to Borough Market on Saturday morning and picked up a Lakeland hare which was subsequently transformed into a rather delicious hare pie matched with an equally exciting Aussie red. We went thw whole hog as well and decided to make our own pastry crust too!
