CHIQUITO Plymouth: Reviewed

July 25, 2011

Tonight we went to the newest restaurant on the Plymouth scene, Chiquito to celebrate Matt Chan’s birthday. You might remember One Chicken Nugget recently reviewed the other Mexican in Plymouth, so there was some tough competition to contend with. It therefore only seems fair to review this place against Arribas and come up with an overall winner!

Chiquito Southampton

Here is the bullet point review:

Food variety – Chiquito seems to have a very up to date and cool approach to the internet and you can find everything from their extensive menus, to offers, to quizzes on their 18,000* strong Facebook page. Here is the weekday menu we ate from tonight.

Drink variety – They had a fairly fun and varied cocktail menu averaging about £5 a cocktail (make of that what you will). I decided to opt for a Magners Golden pint instead and that was £3.70. The pint of Diet Coke consumed by Stephen was £2.69 and the table water was full of ice and free. Whilst I didn’t have a cocktail the mojitos were looking very tempting!

Food taste – I got the impression that Chiquito’s are pretty serious about the way they do food and all the meals came out together, hot and full of traditional Mexican flavour, especially the free salsa you get with Nachos as you wait for your starter.

Service – Amongst the best I have ever had in Plymouth!

Rating – if I was to give it a rating in words it would be; ‘fun, tasty, fresh and friendly‘.

The overall winner for me is Chiquito. Thank the staff for an awesome night!
