Lunch Trimmings

November 16, 2011

Trimmings is a word often used when referring to a Sunday roast or Christmas dinner, “Turkey with all the trimmings, please”. Today, I’ve eaten just trimmings for lunch. That’s not roast potatoes and vegetables, or even bread sauce. It was lunch trimmings.

Lunch trimmings are all the extras you have with your main bit of lunch. The main bit could be soup, a sandwich, maybe even a pasta salad. The trimmings are the extras, like crisps, biscuits, etc. Hopefully this use of the term will catch on. I would love to hear people saying, “I had a sandwich for lunch, with all the trimmings”.

Eaten today:

7:40 Cereal
13:00 Sunbites, medley bar
19:20 quiche with wedges, frozen yoghurt
